Why We Exist

Greek mythology tells the tale of Icarus, who - against the advice of his father - flew too close to the sun, melting his wax wings. It is an ancient warning of overconfidence and ignorance, yet we see the same story playing out today: 1 in 5 people will develop skin cancer before their 70th birthday (Skin Cancer Foundation). We want to solve this, and we're starting by addressing one of the most at-risk groups: golfers.

However, simply wearing sunscreen is a very effective way to protect yourself from skin cancer. If the solution is so obvious, why don't we do it?

Icarus Sun Protection was started with this question in mind, and we believe the answer is that current options for golfers suck.

The Problem

The problem that private golf clubs in Canada face is that their options for bulk sunscreen are terrible, as current options are full of potentially harmful chemicals and all manufactured in the United States.

For these clubs, member experience is their #1 priority. However, cheap and generic foreign-made sunscreen is the last thing members want to put on a place as intimate as their skin.

We saw this as an opportunity to create something better.

The Solution

Our solution is a premium Canadian-made natural sunscreen program, designed for golf clubs.

We customize every dispenser and bottle with the club’s logo for free, and we provide high-quality sunscreen in bulk 1L pouches to fill them.
